Bose Quiet Control 30 Headphone Test

Uncompromising Noise Reduction

The Bose Quiet Control 30 has very good sound and the best noise reduction system we have tested so far. The sound is clear and balanced, the headphones sit nicely, and the battery life is also good.
The Bose Quiet Control 30 is one of the In-Ear models of headphones with the so-called ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). This technology is interesting primarily for travelers and office workers who would like to listen to music in a noisy environment without having to twist the volume control to a dangerously high level. Headphones analyze ambient noise and produce sound waves in anti phase to ensure silence.

Benefits
excellent, balanced sound; excellent noise reduction system; good battery life

Disadvantages

ANC makes a quiet noise

Bose Quiet Control 30 is a wonderful job. As the results of measurements of the HEAD acoustics audio laboratory show, although the headphones have the worst passive damping (almost 3 dB) of all the models we tested, everything changes completely as soon as ANC is activated.
With active noise canceling, headphones can, for example, compensate for flight noise by 20 dB; None of the other In-Ear headphones we tested can compete with such performance in the field of noise damping, and our impressions coincide with these laboratory measurements.

Bose Quiet Control 30: ANC flaws

The drawback of the Bose ANC technology used here is the audible background noise, which in a quiet environment can interfere.

If you put ANC in the application at the weakest level, then In-Ear-headphones will use their microphones in order to only polish the surrounding noise reaching the user. Thus, it will be possible, for example, to talk or listen to announcements in waiting rooms without problems.

Comfort and great sound

Quiet Control 30 sit in your ears very comfortable and stable. However, there are drawbacks due to design features that are noticeable when compared with the so-called True-Wireless models, for example Sony WF-1000X: they are made in the form of an arc with a battery and two earbuds connected by cables.

Thus, from time to time, it may happen that the cables will stretch if the arc slides down a bit, and you try to turn your head. But placement in the ears can be considered convenient. The earplugs are located rather inside the auricle and do not press as deep on the ear canal as other models (for example, Sony WI-1000X). Despite this, to our taste, they sit quite reliably and exert little pressure.
We critically examine the flat control unit, which hangs approximately at the level of the cheek on the right tine.
The sound quality is awesome. In any case, it is important that the In-Ear headphones sit securely and close the ear canal. But compared to the very top-end Over-Ear models, the Bose QC30 is somewhat lacking in massiveness.

Good autonomy, luxury equipment

During our battery endurance tests, we measured almost 11 hours of operation with an activated noise reduction system. This is a good result. Fully wireless True-Wireless models, such as the Sony WF-1000X, which offer a higher level of wearing comfort, can only be envied by such small batteries.

With a duration of the charging process of 1 hour 50 minutes, everything is in order.
NFC for a quick first connection to a playback device is available here. However, users will have to give up the ability to play music through a cable connection. For example, Sony WI-1000X are capable of this. true-wireless Kopfhörer

The Bose Quiet Control 30 Bluetooth module also deserves criticism, since during the test tests the connection became unstable if we moved from room to room. Thus, depending on the thickness of the walls, free movement around the house with these wireless headphones can become problematic. diebestentest

The telephony function is not impressive. However, in general, talking on the phone in the Bose QC30 is still normal.
